Important Information Regarding Tax Credits

Reminder: Appropriate Documentation for Solar Upgrades Installed in Conjunction with Program Projects

As a Participating Contractor, you are able to offer a variety of measures, upgrades and products to your customers - some covered by the Energy Upgrade California® Home Upgrade incentives and others which are not a part of the program, including photovoltaic or solar thermal measures.

Make sure when your scope of work includes both Home Upgrade measures and measures that are eligible for tax credits (solar thermal and PV) that your customer invoice clearly distinguishes between the cost of the items that are eligible for tax credits and the cost of the Home Upgrade measures. Tax credits are calculated based on the cost of the solar measures only. Bundling of Home Upgrade and Solar costs can result in incorrect calculation of the tax credit and serious issues for both the homeowner and the Participating Contractor. Keep this important requirement in mind as we approach the upcoming tax season.

NOTE: Solar PV systems or solar thermal systems may be eligible for the 30 percent Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC). This information regarding taxes, tax credits, tax basis or depreciation is meant to make the customer aware of these benefits only. Southern California Edison and Southern California Gas Company do not provide tax advice. Please seek professional advice from a qualified tax advisor or tax specialist to check the applicability and eligibility before claiming any tax benefits or exemptions.

Gas Only Program: Duct Insulation Now Qualifies as a Shell Measure!

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

Exciting Program Addition: Duct Insulation Qualifies as a Shell Measure!

Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) would like to announce that duct insulation now qualifies as a shell measure for your SoCalGas/municipal utility projects! This program addition is effective immediately on December 1, 2014.

Duct insulation is an excellent complementary measure when installing new HVAC systems, and will now count as the required additional shell measure. Help your customers take advantage of this opportunity to earn up to $2,500 in incentives when they replace their HVAC system and ducts.

Also, don't forget to take advantage of the limited time Fall Special promotion and receive an extra 50 points (not to exceed the program maximum of 250 points) on all SoCalGas/municipal utility Home Upgrade projects by entering the coupon code "FallSpecial" when submitting your SoCalGas Home Upgrade projects using the Web App. Additional conditions apply to the Fall Special if you are installing an HVAC system and your customer's electrical provider is LADWP.

The table below lists all municipal electric service territories/cities served by SoCalGas. Feel free to contact your account manager directly, or simply call our Participating Contractor service line by email or by phone at 855-355-6675 if you have any questions.
