Stretch Your Marketing Dollars with Co-Op Marketing Matching Funds!

Jump start your marketing efforts by tapping into co-op marketing funds now available to all Participating Energy Upgrade California Home Upgrade Contractors (serving Southern California Edison (SCE) and Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) service territories through The Energy Network. Reimbursements of up to 50% of marketing costs are available when Participating Contractors meet co-op marketing program guidelines.

It's easy to get started! Visit The Energy Network's website and follow these simple steps:

  1. Review the Co-Op Marketing Guidelines and Graphic Standards Guide
  2. Sign the Co-Op Marketing Participation Agreement
  3. Email The Energy Network a signed copy of the Participation Agreement (or fax to 213-213-1972)

Examples of items that qualify for 50% reimbursement are co-branded t-shirts and apparel, van/auto wraps, door-to-door canvassing materials, print and radio ads, billboards, flyers, banners and trade show booths.

Please note: Due to the upcoming logo changes developed by the statewide marketing team, we suggest holding any final printing or production of marketing materials until the new logo is released. We will provide additional information on the logo change as soon as possible.

Contact your SCE/SoCalGas account manager for more information.

Energy Upgrade California Advanced Home Upgrade Incentive Calculation

Friday, June 6, 2014

Energy Upgrade California™ Advanced Home Upgrade Incentive Calculation

Southern California Edison (SCE) and Southern California Gas Company are pleased to inform you that the new incentive calculation method for Advanced Home Upgrade has been submitted and is in effect. This new method should result in greater incentive amounts for your customers in most cases.

In addition, the cap for Advanced Home Upgrade incentives has been raised from $4,500 to $6,500 statewide. This additional incentive can be a powerful selling tool when working with customers. We will be revising and providing new marketing brochures with this information reflected.

Important Notes:

URGENT -  Effective immediately, you must use the updated, Excel-based incentive calculator tool (download on the resources page of the contractor website) to calculate the new incentive amount.

  • When you enter the modeled energy usage information in the Web App, you should still be entering the information from the ECON2 report.
  • For in progress projects submitted before June 5, in the unlikely case that the new calculation method causes the incentive to drop below the original amount, program management will override the calculation to pay out the original amount (there will be no drop in incentives for in progress projects).

Please contact your Account Manager with any questions!

Update to the Energy Upgrade California Advanced Home Upgrade Appeal Process

Friday, June 6, 2014

Update to the Energy Upgrade California™ Advanced Home Upgrade Appeal Process

Due to the change in the methodology used to calculate the Advanced Home Upgrade incentive amount, the appeal process has changed. Previously, it was triggered when a project would drop at least one incentive tier or $500.

Effective immediately, the appeal process will be triggered if the final incentive amount results in a potential incentive reduction of $500 or greater; a drop in tiers will no longer be used.

This change applies to both the Southern California Edison (SCE)/Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) and SoCalGas-only programs.

Please contact your SCE/SoCalGas Account Manager with any questions!

NEW SLA Values for the Gas-Only Program

Monday, June 2, 2014

NEW SLA Values for the Gas-Only Program

Currently, in the Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) Energy Upgrade California™ Home Upgrade program the pre-retrofit building leakage values are identified as 0.35 ACHn (4.15 SLA) for all homes built prior to 2001. Participating Contractors have expressed that increasing the pre-retrofit value to closer align with Advanced Home Upgrade values would help meet program requirements. The program agrees and has decided to immediately (as of June 1, 2014) adopt the phase 2 building leakage pre-retrofit values as listed below as a pilot evaluation. These values apply to all projects currently in process and future submittals.

Vintage           Home Upgrade SLA

Pre 1978                     7.1

1978-1992                   5.2

1993-2001                   4.6

For your reference, this information is included in the updated SoCalGas Program Info Sheet, available at the SoCalGas resources page on the SoCal Contractors Website

Please contact your Account Manager if you have any questions.

RHA Memo 543 - Gas Leak Isolation Procedure

Sunday, June 1, 2014

Currently projects where gas leaks have been identified by the QC Inspector are prohibited from undergoing all diagnostic testing. In instances where the gas leak can be isolated, and the approved gas leak procedures have been followed, all diagnostic testing including CAS/CAZ testing on appliances without a gas leak will be performed by the QC Inspector and contractors.
