RHA Memo 540: CFA Measurements in Home Upgrade Projects

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Accurate measurement of Conditioned Floor Area is critical for meeting ASHRAE ventilation requirements for a home. Accurate determination of ventilation requirements for Home Upgrade projects is the responsibility of the contractor. Measurement is key! Make sure to measure your customers' homes carefully, since accurate measurements are a crucial factor in determining ventilation requirements. If you have any questions please contact your ICF Account Manager.

SoCalGas: Home Upgrade Points Update

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

The Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) Program is happy to announce that effective November 11, 2013, the SoCalGas-only Energy Upgrade California™ program will implement a modified point structure for Home Upgrade projects. The new structure will be consistent with the point structure currently being used by both The Energy Network and Home Upgrade programs in Northern California.

The table below presents the Home Upgrade measures with a side-by-side comparison of the current point structure and the new point structure.

Overall, the new point structure will result in higher overall point values, thereby increasing incentive amounts for your Home Upgrade projects. Please note: the maximum incentive amount of $2,500 is unchanged.

Please contact your account manager if you have any questions.

November 2013 Contractor Update

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Welcome to another edition of the Energy Upgrade California™ Home Upgrade newsletter! As a contractor or rater in the Southern California Edison (SCE) and Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) service territories, we hope this newsletter will serve as a resource to you for quick program updates, and information on upcoming events and training opportunities.

The highlight this month is the Winter Upgrade sales contest (for projects in the SoCalGas service territory). Please consider participating - contest winners will receive up to $2,000 in prizes! Also in this edition, meet our newest account manager, Hannah Laughlin, and read more about forthcoming professional development sessions.

As always, please contact your account manager if you have questions or need any support. Contact information is included at the bottom of this message.

General Updates and Reminders
  • SoCalGas Winter Upgrade Sales Contest
    • The SoCalGas Winter Upgrade sales contest will run from November 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014. Prizes will include material supplier gift certificates or SoCalGas co-op marketing funding.
    • Contest Rules: Cancelled projects will not count toward the total. Contest winners will be determined and prizes will be awarded after all projects submitted during the contest period have closed out.
    • Monthly prizes (awarded to the top three producers submitting more than 10 projects):
      • First: $1,000
      • Second: $750
      • Third: $500
    • Overall prizes (top producers in all three months combined):
      • First: $2,000
      • Second: $1,500
      • Third: $1,000
  • SoCalGas Winter Upgrade Incentive Promotion
    • The SoCalGas-only program is offering a Winter Upgrade incentive promotion from November 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014. During that time, incentive levels in areas where SoCalGas provides gas service and electrical service is provided by a municipal utility (e.g., Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Lompoc, Anaheim, etc.) will be increased from 30 percent of the statewide levels to 100 percent of the statewide levels. Be sure to take advantage of this limited opportunity to sell projects in areas with mature homes that stand to benefit greatly from our program.
  • New account manager: Hannah Laughlin
    • She has previously supported low income whole-home weatherization, home performance, lighting and appliance, home energy assessment and HVAC programs. Supporting these programs allowed Hannah the opportunity to gain experience in not only the technical aspects of home performance, but also program marketing, application processing and contractor support. We are excited to have Hannah as part of our team!
    • Hannah joins us as an Account Manager serving the northern territory (counties include: Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles - Northern, Tulare, Kern, Kings, Inyo and Mono). A certified Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst, Hannah has transferred to California from ICF's Michigan office and comes to us with previous experience supporting residential energy efficiency programs as an Account Manager.

 Upcoming Events and Training Opportunities

Technical Training Session
  • BPI Continuing Education Units (CEUs) continue to be available for attending Technical Training sessions in person! Technical Training sessions will resume in February 2014.
Regional Affordable Comfort, Inc. (ACI) Conference
