RTS Memo 109.1 - Emergency Equipment Replacement Policy for HVAC/DHW Systems. During the first few months of summer and winter there is a rise in the volume of HVAC emergency replacements driven by homeowners re-engaging their HVAC systems.

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Due to the climate of Southern California, during the first few months of summer and winter, there is a rise in the volume of HVAC emergency replacements driven by homeowners re-engaging their HVAC systems after periods of non-use. Since many program participating contractors will be involved in these replacements, they have the opportunity to inform homeowners of the additional benefits of the Energy Upgrade California program, however, program design currently does not allow them to include emergency replacement as an energy efficiency measure counting toward overall energy savings. Development of a mechanism to allow emergency replacements as part of a broader Energy Upgrade California project could significantly increase program participation and related energy savings.

RTS Memo 126 - Photo Documentation Requirement. Currently the program requires data stamped photos using digital cameras when photo documentation is required.

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Currently the program requires data stamped photos using digital cameras when photo documentation is required. Recent QC review has indicated that some contractors may be adding the date after the photo has been taken and there has been a request for clarification on date stamping if the camera is not equipped with electronic date stamping capabilities.

Photodocumention is a requirement of certain process within the program and there is concern that inconsistent or unclear requirments for date stamping may question the validity of the date stamp.
