New Contractor Training

Contractors who are new to Energy Upgrade California® Home Upgrade in the Southern California Edison (SCE) and SoCalGas® service areas are required to complete certain training prior to obtaining Participating Contractor status. Your regionally assigned Account Manager will help guide you through all required training. In addition, certain courses are subsidized by SCE and SoCalGas. Learn more below, and get started by completing a Contractor Interest Form online. You may also contact us by email or by phone at 855-355-6675 with any questions about becoming a Participating Contractor.

PROJECT PROCESSING TRAINING: Learn how to submit, track and process projects using the program's convenient Web Application and project processing system. Also includes an overview of project workflow, required forms and uploads and where to go for help and support. The program offers quarterly in-person group sessions and ongoing one-on-one training sessions with your Account Manager. During your one-on-one session, your Account Manager will provide individualized guidance on how to maximize your participation in the program to help grow your business.

ONLINE LEARNING CENTER: Customer and employee safety are of utmost importance to the program. Contractors who are not BPI Building Analysts and want to complete Home Upgrade projects must complete our online Training and Certification Program – Home Performance 101. Contractors completing Home Performance 101 will receive training on a variety of home performance topics ranging from applied science to sales and marketing. All coursework is available online in the Home Upgrade Learning Center at no cost to the contractor. The coursework consists of approximately 12.5 hours of self-paced coursework designed to aid contractors in transforming their business to a home performance model. At completion of the course contractors will be presented with a completion certificate.

BPI BUILDING ANALYST: Contractors who want to complete Advanced Home Upgrade projects must have a BPI Building Analyst on staff. Subsidized pricing is available for BPI Building Analyst courses. Talk to your Account Manager to obtain a discount code before you register for BPI Building Analyst training.

MENTORING PROGRAM: Our program mentors provide coaching and guidance as you navigate your first projects with the program. To complete the mentoring requirement, you will meet with a program mentor and demonstrate competency in an evaluation session that covers all items on the Field Training Checklist.
